ADHD treatment and ongoing care

After a diagnosis, we help you choose what’s right for you. That might be medication with careful monitoring, support to understand and manage ADHD, or both.

Medication, when it’s appropriate

Medication can make a real difference for many people with ADHD, but it isn’t right for everyone. Your clinician will explain the options, the possible benefits and side effects, and answer your questions before anything is prescribed.

If you decide to go ahead, we use a process called titration: starting with a low dose and adjusting it gradually until we find what works best for you, with as few side effects as possible.

Prescriptions are only issued after a consultation, and only when your clinician judges that treatment is safe and suitable for you.

During titration

  • Baseline checks of your health, heart history, blood pressure, pulse and weight
  • Video reviews every few weeks, with check-ins in between
  • Home blood pressure and weight readings shared through your patient portal
  • A named contact if you have questions or side effects
  • A clear plan once you’re settled

Shared care with your GP

Once your treatment is stable, we ask your GP to take over prescribing under a shared care agreement. This means you pay the usual NHS prescription charge (free in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), while we continue to review you at least once a year.

GPs don’t have to agree to shared care, and some practices don’t offer it for private patients. If yours declines, we can carry on prescribing privately, and we’ll make sure there’s no gap in your treatment.

Your costs if your GP declines

A private prescription fee of £30 each time, plus the pharmacy’s charge for the medication, and your annual review.

Support beyond medication

Understanding how ADHD affects you, and having practical strategies, helps whether or not you take medication.

ADHD education session

A session to help you, or your family, understand ADHD, how it shows up for you, and what tends to help day to day.

Coaching and therapy

We can recommend trusted ADHD coaches and therapists, including cognitive behavioural therapy adapted for ADHD.

Work and school

Letters to support reasonable adjustments at work or university, and practical recommendations for your child’s school.

Already diagnosed? Transferring your care

If you were diagnosed elsewhere, in the NHS or privately, we can review your diagnosis and take over your care. We’ll ask for your previous report and any treatment records.

A review appointment costs £295. If anything in the original assessment is unclear, we’ll explain whether further assessment is needed before treatment.

Annual reviews

Everyone on ADHD medication should have their treatment reviewed at least once a year. We check how things are going, review your health checks, and agree whether anything should change.
