Our ADHD clinicians and team

Consultant psychiatrists make every diagnosis. Prescribers look after medication, a CBT therapist offers talking therapy, and our patient care team answers your questions. Here’s who does what, and how we check every clinician.

Who does what

Each service is provided by the clinician with the right specialism. When you book a service, you’re booked with the person who provides it.

How we check our clinicians

Before anyone joins us, and regularly after that, we require:

  • Doctors: registration with a licence to practise from the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Consultants: entry on the GMC Specialist Register in the right specialty: general psychiatry for adults, or child and adolescent psychiatry for children
  • Nurses: registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), with a prescribing qualification recorded on the register for anyone who prescribes
  • CBT therapists: registration with a UK professional regulator, such as the HCPC or NMC, or accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). Their profile names the body
  • Training and expertise in ADHD, as NICE guideline NG87 expects of anyone who diagnoses or manages it
  • An enhanced criminal record check: DBS in England and Wales, PVG in Scotland, or AccessNI in Northern Ireland
  • Professional indemnity cover for the work they do with us
  • Yearly appraisal and revalidation: doctors revalidate with the GMC every 5 years, and nurses with the NMC every 3 years. Other clinicians meet their professional body’s requirements
  • Safeguarding training for children and adults, at the level their role needs

We check the relevant register before each clinician starts and at least once a year after that.

Check for yourself

Every clinician’s profile shows their registration number once it’s added. You can search for any doctor on the GMC register and any nurse on the NMC register, free of charge. For a therapist, use the register or directory of the body named on their profile.

Who leads clinical standards

Our medical director, Dr Helen Carter, is responsible for clinical governance. Read more about how we keep care safe.

Booking with a particular clinician

You don’t need to choose a clinician. Booking the right service books you with the person who provides it:

If you have a preference about who you see, or you’d like to keep seeing the same clinician, tell us when you book, or ask us first. We’ll tell you honestly whether we can arrange it.

Not sure where to start?
