You only pay for a real appointment

You pay when you book a confirmed date and time. We never take payment for a place on a waiting list, or for a slot we can’t offer. For shared care and repeat prescription requests, which aren’t appointments, you pay when you send the request.

When we’re open

Our team and our appointments are available 10am to 8pm, 7 days a week. Online booking is open 24 hours a day. Call 0306 999 0123 if you can’t find a time that suits you.

What affects how soon you’re seen

  • At least 48 hours’ notice for assessments. Your questionnaires come first: you complete them online before your appointment, so your clinician has them in front of them. Adults are also asked for input from someone who knew them as a child, where possible. So the earliest assessment is two days after you book, and you can choose a later date if you need more time.
  • School input for children. Children’s assessments use home and school questionnaires. Schools are closed in the holidays, so allow time for theirs when you choose a date.
  • Which clinician you need. Each service is with a named clinician, so waits can differ between adult and child appointments.
  • Your GP records, for treatment. Before we prescribe, we need a summary of your records from your GP practice, which can take a little while. Ask us to start early.

NHS waiting times for ADHD assessment

NHS waits for an ADHD assessment are long in all four nations. These are the latest published figures we could find. They measure different things, so they can’t be compared directly.

NationLatest figuresSource
EnglandUp to 959,662 open referrals that may be for an ADHD assessment in June 2026, with up to 37,105 new referrals that month, 46.7% more than in June 2025NHS England, published 27 August 2026

Right to Choose (England only)

In England, you can ask your GP to refer you to an NHS-funded provider of your choice under Right to Choose. In 2026 some areas have limited it. For example, Hampshire and Isle of Wight says people waiting now will only be offered an assessment in 2027 if they meet its priority criteria. Right to Choose doesn’t apply in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. We’re a private, self-pay service. Read NHS Right to Choose for ADHD or a private assessment?

Is waiting for the NHS a better option for you?

It might be. An NHS assessment is free, and any treatment afterwards stays within the NHS, so you don’t pay for private prescriptions. A private assessment costs £289 for adults and £499 for children with us, and treatment afterwards has costs too. You can stay on an NHS waiting list while you decide. See our fees.
