Sophie Turner

ADHD Specialist Nurse Prescriber

Sophie Turner is our ADHD specialist nurse prescriber. She supports adults through medication titration, medication reviews and repeat prescriptions.

About

Sophie is an ADHD specialist nurse prescriber. She supports adults through medication titration, medication reviews and repeat prescriptions, if they and their clinician decide to try medication.

At each review she asks how you’re getting on day to day, checks your blood pressure, pulse and weight readings and any side effects, and agrees the next step with you. She explains each step in plain English, so you always know what happens next and who to contact.

Experience and training

  • Registered mental health nurse on the NMC register
  • Nurse independent prescribing qualification, recorded on the NMC register
  • Experience in NHS adult mental health services, including adult ADHD clinics
  • Training in physical health monitoring for people taking ADHD medication

Special interests

  • Careful, step-by-step titration and physical health monitoring
  • Helping people with the practical side of treatment, such as routines, prescriptions and keeping up with reviews
  • Working with GPs on shared care

At ADHD Health

  • Carries out titration appointments for adults: about 30 minutes by video, to start medication and adjust the dose, with reviews usually monthly
  • Carries out adult medication reviews, including the review needed at least once a year
  • Holds the first medication review for adults who were diagnosed elsewhere, checking their diagnosis report and treatment so far against NICE guidance
  • Reviews adults’ repeat prescription requests. A clinician checks each one, so repeats are never automatic
  • Prepares adults’ shared care requests once the dose is stable after three titration appointments
  • Writes some of our guides on adult treatment, which a consultant psychiatrist reviews before they’re published
